Internal
Revenue Service Awards Three-Year
Agreement for Implementation of
HiSoftware Company's Section 508
Enterprise Software, AccMonitor™
Server
Concord, NH July
31, 2002 – HiSoftware Company
announced today that the U.S. Internal
Revenue Service (IRS) awarded a
three-year purchase agreement to
HiSoftware Company for implementation
of its Section 508 compliance
software, AccMonitor Server. The
software will be used to evaluate and
monitor IRS intranet and Internet web
sites for conformance with Section
508. There are approximately 300
distinct intranet web sites and
several Internet web sites.
IRS awarded a purchase agreement to
HiSoftware Company after evaluating
several Section 508 compliance
products for implementation as an
enterprise-level Windows® server-based
508 monitoring and evaluation
solution.
The IRS joins a growing list of
Federal government agencies turning to
HiSoftware Company for Section 508
compliance solutions, including but
not limited to the US Army Materiel
Command, Department of Veterans
Affairs, U.S. General Services
Administration, and Department of
Defense. HiSoftware Company also works
with several Fortune 1000 corporations
including Microsoft Corporation,
Mercury Interactive, and Fidelity
Investments, State and local
government agencies and Educational
institutions:

Under the terms of the agreement,
HiSoftware Company will provide its
AccMonitor Server Enterprise software
to the IRS for use by its webmasters,
application developers, and Section
508 compliance experts. Running as a
Windows® service, AccMonitor is an
automated accessibility testing
solution for Web sites or for use in
conjunction with Intranet Servers or
File Servers. Using a crawler,
AccMonitor tests sites for compliance
with Section 508 and W3C accessibility
standards. AccMonitor spiders, or
crawls over, entire Web sites and
reports on their accessibility status.
AccMonitor particularly benefits
organizations that need to monitor
multiple servers that host information
via the World Wide Web. AccMonitor is
a server solution that is designed to
run with no user interaction once
configured. AccMonitor can be
scheduled to crawl Web sites daily,
weekly, or monthly. It also allows
users to log-on for “on demand”
reports on the accessibility status of
their Web pages.
Section 508, an amendment to the
Rehabilitation Act of 1973, requires
electronic and information technology
that is used, developed, and procured
by the Federal government to be
accessible to people with
disabilities.
