Georgia Accessibility Rally Selects AccVerify DS2 Cynthia Says to Ensure Accessibility

Columbus, GA April 5, 2004- The Georgia Accessibility Rally, an exciting and innovative new web development competition involving high school students with disabilities has selected AccVerify Cynthia Says Edition for its accessibility validation solution.

The Rally teams students from Georgia’s High School/High Tech program with mentors who have been trained in web accessibility and usability standards and techniques. Their goal is to redesign their existing school websites to make them more accessible to people with disabilities. All participants will have the opportunity to use some of today’s premier web authoring and accessibility tools.

At the close of the rally, a panel of judges will meet to determine which of the new school Web sites are the best designed and most accessible. The Georgia Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities will award scholarships to the participating students from the winning teams.

Students will be utilizing Cynthia Says throughout the entire redesign process to test each page for accessibility errors. This will provide them with vital information they will need to create a site that is accessible to people with disabilities who use screen readers and other assistive technologies.

The Southeast Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center (DBTAC) under its Educational Leadership Initiative fund this project, in part.
