HiSoftware Company of Concord, NH has
won the da Vinci award for their efforts
in developing software solutions for
people with disabilities that enhance
the accessibility of websites.
HiSoftware’s Web site accessibility
verification, repair and monitoring
software solutions assist organizations
in achieving and maintaining accessible
Web sites in compliance with Section 508
standards and W3C WCAG 1.0 Priority 1-3
accessibility guidelines. These
solutions, available as desktop and
automated server-based applications,
help organizations develop long-term
strategies to achieve Web content
accessibility. They allow multiple users
to work collaboratively on Web site
accessibility-resulting in reductions in
time and resources allocated to
accessibility.
HiSoftware’s product line includes a
combination of user-driven interactive
desktop solutions that allow developers
to test their Web sites and Web based
applications for conformance with
accessibility standards, and to caption
their multimedia presentations for
accessible presentation on the Web, and
server side remote applications that
allow for automated and remote
accessibility testing. The desktop

“We congratulate
HiSoftware on receiving a 2002 da Vinci
Award for its accessibility products,”
said Giovanni Mezgec, FrontPage lead
product manager at Microsoft.
“HiSoftware’s products are best-in-class
solutions that enable Microsoft
FrontPage users to more thoroughly test
their FrontPage Web sites to ensure the
highest levels of accessibility. It’s

HiSoftware’s enterprise server solution,
AccMonitor Server, provides a remote
reporting system for managing Web
content accessibility. Running as a
Windows® service, AccMonitor is an
automated accessibility testing solution
for Web sites or for use in conjunction
with Intranet servers or file servers.
Using a crawler, AccMonitor tests sites
for compliance with Section 508 and W3C
accessibility standards. AccMonitor
spiders, or crawls over, entire Web
sites and reports on their accessibility
status. AccMonitor particularly benefits
organizations that need to monitor
multiple servers that host information
via the World Wide Web. AccMonitor is a
server solution that is designed to run
with no user interaction once
configured. AccMonitor can be scheduled
to crawl Web sites daily, weekly, or
monthly. It also allows users to log-on
for “on demand” reports on the
accessibility status of their Web pages.
This solution also integrates “out of
the box” with Microsoft Corporation's
Content Management Server™ and Share
Point Portal Server™.
HiSoftware has also integrated its award
winning AccVerify solution with Mercury
Interactive’s enterprise testing
products. Mercury Interactive
Corporation, the leading provider of
software and services that optimize
business processes, has provided
Validated Integration Partner status to
HiSoftware for its integration of
AccVerify with Mercury Interactive’s
enterprise testing solutions including:
Mercury Interactive's global test
management software, TestDirector®, and
functional and regression testing
software packages, WinRunner® and
QuickTest™ Professional.
The da Vinci Awards honor individuals,
organizations and corporations in the
engineering, construction and technical
industries, whose design innovations

Disabilities Act, to further empower all
people regardless of physical ability.
“This year’s group of winners are very
impressive,” notes NMSS President,
Patricia A. McDonald. “The entries we
received were of such high caliber that
our judges had a real challenge to meet.
The ones they chose are leaders in their
fields. These designers have
demonstrated such commitment, vision and
enthusiasm and deserve public
recognition for what they have done.
They have shown the way for others to
follow.”
