HiSoftware to Present Two Sessions on Web Accessibility with Top Industry Evangelists at CSUN 2008

Conference also to be the setting for HiSoftware User Group Meeting co-sponsored by HP and Microsoft with industry expert Cynthia Waddell as special guest speaker

 

What:

HiSoftware (www.hisoftware.com), a leading provider of software, services and managed operation solutions that monitor and optimize Web content, quality and regulatory compliance, will present two sessions on Web site accessibility at CSUN 2008, California State University at Northridge’s annual conference focusing on technology and persons with disabilities. CSUN is the longest-running and largest annual university-sponsored conference of its kind.

HiSoftware’s Vice President of Business Development, Dana Simberkoff and Dan Hubbell, Technical Evangelist, Microsoft Accessibility Business Unit, will present a session titled “Building Accessible Websites Using MOSS 2007 and the Accessibility Kit for SharePoint.” Attendees will learn how they can leverage the AKS, an open source accessibility toolkit for MOSS co-developed by Microsoft and HiSoftware and outline how HiSoftware’s solutions for MOSS can further empower users to create accessible Web sites.

Cynthia Waddell, JD, Executive Director and Law, Policy and Technology Consultant , International Center for Disability Resources on the Internet (ICDRI), Namesake for CynthiaSays™- a web accessibility checker, will present a session with HiSoftware titled “Web Accessibility: Legal ramifications and awareness within Higher Education.” This presentation will discuss the legal obligations for entities operating both in the US and overseas, the impact of the UN treaty and steps for achieving accessible Web.

HiSoftware will also hold its second Education User Group Luncheon at CSUN 2008. Co-sponsored by HP and Microsoft, the meeting will focus on the legal importance of building a Web accessibility program, new HiSoftware solutions and give attendees the opportunity to share user experiences over lunch. Special guest speaker Cynthia Waddell, an internationally recognized expert in the field of electronic and information technology as well as employment and construction, will lead a discussion on the legal obligations for entities operating both in the US and overseas, the impact of the UN treaty and steps for achieving accessible Web.
